Because the leaves open in public view, they have to meet evenly. A pair that is off by a few millimetres at the meeting stile looks wrong the moment you walk up to it.

Welded or knock-down, set plumb
Metal frames come two ways. Welded frames arrive as one piece, stiff and rigid, a good choice where the wall is already built and the opening is square. Knock-down frames ship in parts and are assembled on site, which helps when the delivery path is tight or the schedule calls for them.
Either way, the frame sets everything that follows. We set it plumb and level, because a frame that leans pushes the whole pair out of alignment, and no amount of hinge adjustment fully fixes that after the fact.

Hardware sets, astragals and the closers that finish the job
A pair needs more hardware than a single leaf. There is the astragal, the strip where the two doors meet, plus hinges on both leaves, a lockset or exit device on the active leaf, and a closer on each door. Closers from Global Door Controls and hinges from Hager are among the lines we install.

Two leaves, one opening
Each door carries its own vision lite and its own closer. The active leaf takes the lockset, and the inactive leaf is held by its own bolts until it is needed.
The frame
Welded or knock-down
Head, jambs and a mullion if the opening calls for one. The frame is anchored to suit the wall and set plumb before a door is hung.
